Alliance Française Marseille-Provence was formed in 1889 . It is a Private Higher Education Institution offering French lessons for foreigners. As a member of the international network of Alliances Françaises, our mission is to teach French to foreigners and make the culture of the French-speaking world known by promoting inter-cultural contacts .

Organisation
Each Alliance Française is independent but has the same internal organisation, with a Chair assisted by a Board of Trustees and a Committee. They have decision-making authority and delegate the day-to-day management to a Director.

Becoming a member
Alliance Française needs your help in its mission of communicating and disseminating the French language and culture in France!
As well as teaching French to foreign visitors and foreigners living in the region, we organise cultural events for our members every year. Please join our effort to spread the French language and culture.

AF around the world
Foreign students have attended Alliances Françaises around the world for more than a century.
Founded in 1883 on the initiative of Paul Cambon and Pierre Foncin, the international network now comprises 968 Alliances Françaises teaching in 136 countries .
It is the largest network disseminating the French language and French-speaking cultures worldwide today.

The Alliance Française Foundation
The AF Foundation, created in July 2007 , is recognised as being in the public interest .
Its mission is as follows :
- to develop the teaching of French and the dissemination of French-speaking culture
- to promote cultural diversity by organising events to showcase foreign artists such as "Alliances en résonance"
- to provide support for Alliances Françaises in the setup and management of their centres
- to monitor compliance with the "quality policy applied to the activities of Alliances Françaises" benchmark.
